If Constant section is enabled when defining the element in the Project manager:

Then the Section database will give the user the possibility to use predefined sections or define custom sections.

Standard Eurocode concrete

This database consists of predefined sections, some for example-purposes, others are cross sections from manufacturers.

Non-standard concrete

The Non-standard database is a user-defined database. It will save and contain all the user defined cross sections created by the user.

By selecting the Non-standard concrete database on the left and one of the supported cross sections on the right it is possible to see the stored cross section, and the program will give an option to [Add] new sections.

Entering values in the measurements input fields, a name for the cross section and then pressing [Add] will calculate the cross sectional parameters.

And by then pressing [OK] it will be stored in the database.

A few more options for the cross section is now available:

[Change] will give the user the option to change the cross section

[Delete] will remove it from the database.

Manage cross sections

There is a special feature for the user-defined cross sections. By right-clicking on the name and selecting "Manage cross sections..." / "Hantera tvärsnitt..." it is possible to add a note, warning or disable a cross section. This can be good if an old cross section has been used in older files, but it should be kept in the list, even if a newer version is available.

There are three advanced settings:

  • Show information (information icon + message)
  • Show warning (warning icon + message)
  • Block the usage of this section

The message is shown above the preview.

For blocked sections the [OK]-button is disabled, making it impossible to add the cross section to the project.

Supported cross sections

Rectangular solid

The Rectangular solid section is defined by the following parameters:

ParameterUnitDescription
HmmHeight of the element
BmmWidth of the element

Variable rectangular section

The Variable rectangular section is defined by the following parameters:

ParameterUnitDescription
HmmHeight of the element
B1mmWidth of the bottommost part of the element
B2mmWidth of the topmost part of the element

T-section

The T-section is defined by the following parameters:

ParameterUnitDescription
HmmHeight of the element
BmmWidth of the flange
dmmWidth of the web
tmmHeight (thickness) of the flange

Variable T-section

The Variable T-section is defined by the following parameters:

ParameterUnitDescription
HmmHeight of the element
BmmWidth of the flange
d1mmWidth of the bottommost part of the web (element)
d2mmWidth of the topmost part of the web
tmmHeight (thickness) of the flange

Solid circular

1660118778067-627.png

The Solid circular section is defined by the following parameters:

ParameterUnitDescription
HmmDiameter (height) of the element

Singlesym. I-section

1660119744077-844.png

The Singlesymmetric I-section is defined by the following parameters:

ParameterUnitDescription
HmmHeight of the element
dmmWidth of the web
B1mmWidth of the bottommost flange
B2mmWidth of the topmost flange
hf1mmHeight of the bottommost flange
hf2mmHeight of the topmost flange
hw1mmHeight of the bottommost inclined part of the flange
hw2mmHeight of the topmost inclined part of the flange

F-Section

1660122161471-195.png

The F-section (Flange-beam) is defined by the following parameters:

ParameterUnitDescription
HmmHeight of the element
BmmWidth of the flange (element)
dmmWidth of the web
tmmHeight of the flange

This section is symmetric so both flanges will have the same height

Fh-section

1660134436768-309.png

The Fh-section (Half flange beam) is defined by the following parameters:

ParameterUnitDescription
HmmHeight of the element
BmmWidth of the flange (element)
dmmWidth of the web
tmmHeight of the flange

KB-section

1660134455914-333.png

The KB-section is defined by the following parameters:

ParameterUnitDescription
HmmHeight of the element
BmmWidth of the bottom of the element
t1mmHeight of the left flange
t2mmHeight of the right flange
c1mmWidth of the left flange
c2mmWidth of the right flange
k1-Ratio of te slope of the left flange
k2-Ratio of te slope of the right flange

KBE-section

1660134523254-555.png

The KBE-section is defined by the following parameters:

ParameterUnitDescription
HmmHeight of the element
dmmWidth of the web
BmmWidth of the bottom of the element
tmmHeight of the flange
k-Ratio of te slope of the flange

D-section

1660134536665-937.png

The D-section is a special slab-like element defined by the following parameters:

ParameterUnitDescription
HmmHeight of the element
Bmm1.0m width of the total element. (Locked)

This section can't be designed with stirrups, use Rectangular solid section for those purposes.

Hollowcore / HD-section

1660134563055-661.png

One way to define a hollowcore is by enterring parameters, the other is by importing a dwg/dxf-file. The Hollowcore-section is defined by the following parameters:

ParameterUnitDescription
BmmWidth of the bottommost part of the element
bmmWidth of the bottommost part of the element
HmmHeight of the element
hmmHeight of the cores
n-Number of cores
smmSpacing between the cores
cmmDistance between the top of the core to the top of the element
btmmWidth of the top of the cores
bbmmWidth of the bottom of the cores
rtmmRadius of the top of the cores
zrtmmDistance from the top to the centerpoint of the radius for the top of the cores
rbmmRadius of the bottom of the cores
zrbmmDistance from the bottom to the centerpoint of the radius for the bottom of the cores
bftmmDistance of the top flange to the web
hft1mmHeight of the topmost part of the edge
hft2mmHeight of the topmost inclined part of the edge
bfbmmDistance of the bottom flange to the web
hfb1mmHeight of the bottommost part of the edge
hfb2mmHeight of the bottommost inclined part of the edge
nb-Number of divisions of the curvature of the bottom of the cores
nt-Number of divisions of the curvature of the top of the cores

Note: In orderr to have different sizes of the cores the dwg/dxf-import needs to be used since the parameter-input only can handle one size of the cores.
